Sibling of Special Needs Boy Speaks Out

Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with my son Ian, who also happens to be the cutest 7-year-old in Orange County (though I may be slightly biased) and ask him what it’s like having a brother with special needs.
Below is a conversation I would urge any parent to have with a child in a similar situation. It can be so eye-opening to hear what our little ones have to say, as well as therapeutic for your typical child, who will benefit greatly knowing he is able to explore and vent his feelings regarding his sibling in a safe and welcoming environment.
