JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The union representing Jacksonville Developmental Center employees
issued a laundry list of complaints Thursday, calling into question the
safety of residents being moved out.
Despite being fully funded for the coming fiscal year, Gov. Pat Quinn
remains dedicated in his effort to shutter the facility as efforts to
move residents into community settings continue.
But the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees,
Council 31 claims in a letter addressed to the state Department of
Health and Human Services that the consulting firm tasked with moving residents have ignored their advice and have rushed residents out, leading to one injury.
