Fewer babies are being born too early in New York and that means fewer
infants are at risk for birth defects, according to the state health
department.
Births before 37 weeks accounted for 10.9 percent of all births in
2011, a drop from 12.2 percent in 2009, according to the numbers
released Friday by the New York State Department of Health.
