INDIANAPOLIS -- Policy changes are taking place among Indiana's first responders.
It's now mandatory for first responders to receive autism training so they will know how to interpret an autistic child's behavior in the event of an emergency.
Officials said that although it's common for autistic children to wander away from home, each child's behavior may vary, 6News' Stacia Matthews reported.

Salon Turns Away Child with Autism
VESTAL, N.Y. -- Sebastian Walker-Sklanka seems like an average 4-year-old boy, but its what cant be seen that makes him different.
Any little change in his pattern will set him off, said Sebastian's mother, Cindy Walker-Sklanka.
Walker-Sklanka knew for the past few years that something was wrong with Sebastian, but it wasn't until last May that she found out he had autism, a developmental disorder that affects his social and communication skills.
